Gutters are vital and important to your home, landscaping, and comfort of living. Unfortunately, gutters don’t last forever. They are exposed to a lot of elements, and over time, they may need repairs and eventually replacement. It is important to keep your gutters in working order to help prevent damages to your roof, foundation, and landscaping. Gutter replacement should be done at the first sign of gutter damage that is beyond repair. Here are four signs to help you know if you are in need of gutter replacement:
- Sagging- If your gutters, or a section of your gutters, are sagging or bowing away from your home, you may need a gutter replacement. Depending on the severity of the sagging, they may be able to be repaired but only a gutter professional will be able to make that assessment.
- Gaps- For gutters to function properly there should never be a gap in the gutters. If there is a gap, then that section will need to be replaced.
- Water Marks- If you can see water marks on your home or the downspouts, then water is escaping your gutters and they are not functioning properly. It is time to have them inspected for possible gutter replacement.
- Missing Pieces – Many things can cause parts of your gutters to fall off or become detached from your home. Some of these things can be age of gutters, severe weather like high winds, and allowing repairs or cleanings to go for too long without receiving necessary attention. If pieces are missing, then gutter replacement is likely necessary.
